Peru Germán Carranza | Geisha Natural

$24.95
Size: 4oz
A rare and radiant Natural Geisha from young producer Germán Carranza—bursting with blackberry, grape, papaya, and refined fruit tea complexity.

We’re thrilled to bring back coffees from Germán Carranza, a rising producer in Peru’s Amazonas region whose work has been a highlight on our menu the past two years. This release marks the first of two lots we’ll feature from him this season, and it’s something truly special: a Natural Process Geisha.

Geisha coffees are famously delicate, rare, and highly sought after — difficult to cultivate, with low yields, but capable of producing some of the most beautiful cups in the world. Germán’s expression of this variety is both dynamic and refined, offering a stunning balance of fruit-forward juiciness and Geisha’s signature elegance.

ABOUT THE COFFEE

IN FOCUS: Peru Germán Carranza

This release represents the next chapter in our partnership with the young producer who is pushing boundaries with rare varieties and innovative processing. Germán Natural Geisha is a standout coffee, combining rarity with remarkable complexity.

Producer & Farm
Germán Carranza Barboza is a 28-year-old producer, husband, and father of two from the village of Gracias a Dios in Peru’s Amazonas region. His farm, El Bebedero, takes its name from the natural springs that sustain the land and surrounding wildlife. This is our second year working with Germán, in partnership with Yellow Rooster, who help support his continued growth and experimentation as a young farmer.

Farming & Varietals
El Bebedero sits at 1600–1700 masl, where Germán hand-selects cherries for washed, honey, and natural processing. His eight-year-old trees include a remarkable range of varietals for the region — Maragogype, Villasarchi, Pink Bourbon, Marsellesa, and Gesha — demonstrating his drive to explore beyond convention and push quality forward.

Processing & Tasting Notes
This Geisha lot was naturally processed, allowing the ripe cherries to ferment and dry with their full fruit sugars intact. The result is a cup that’s vibrant, complex, and expressive. Expect juicy notes of blackberry, concord grape, and papaya, wrapped in layers of delicate fruit tea. True to the Geisha variety, it remains refined and nuanced, yet here with a bright, almost tropical juiciness that keeps the cup dynamic from first sip to last.
