Our Training Lab in our Ferndale Coffee Shop & Headquarters located at 927 Hilton Rd. is now open to the public for anyone and everyone to use our equipment, coffee, milk and more. This is a chance to sharpen your espresso preparation skills or get some reps on latte art! Are you training for a throw down or competition? Do you want the chance to use a Slayer espresso machine? Or do you just want some one-on-one time with our DOCR Education Department to hone in on your at-home brewing methods?

WHAT ARE INDIVIDUAL LAB HOURS?
This option is for those who may already have experience being a barista (either in a coffee shop or at home!) and need to train for latte art throw downs, competitions or any certification testing. Our Educators will be present to administer you as you navigate a new space, but won't be providing any specialized training.
WHAT ARE GUIDED LAB HOURS?
Do you need additional training and education on coffee theory, brewing methods, machinery, latte art and more? We've got you covered! Our Education Department Managers are skilled and certified in providing the additional guidance needed to be the best barista-in-training that you can be!

WHICH OPEN LAB IS BEST FOR ME?
Are you unsure of which lab to book for yourself?
If you're new to the coffee industry, and are interested in learning more on a one-on-basis outside of our public-facing class, we suggest booking our Guided Lab Hours. Our Education Managers will gauge which area you'd like to focus on — which can range from learning how to use an espresso machine to practicing new-to-you brewing methods — and will walk you through the process every step of the way.
If you have barista and coffee experience and generally know how to use coffee equipment, feel free to book our Individual Lab Hours. You'll have access to all of our equipment, coffee and milk, but our Education Managers will not be guiding you one-on-one. You'll have the space to use for yourself! This is chance for you to practice your latte art skills and prepare for a competition. You can also hone in on other brewing methods, too.

HOW DO I BOOK AN OPEN LAB SESSION?
Click here where you'll be redirected to our Square booking page. Select between our Individual Lab Hours or Guided Lab Hours depending on your skill level and needs, then select an available date and time that works best for you! Once you've made all of your selections, you can book the session by paying. You'll receive confirmation from our team.
WHERE DO I GO FOR OPEN LAB HOURS?
How exciting — you're on your way to accessing our Training Lab at DOCR!
When it's time for your Open Lab Hours, just head to our Ferndale Cafe & Headquarters at least 5 minutes before your scheduled session. Once you arrive, step right up to our cafe's bar and let one of our baristas know you're here for an Open Lab! They'll alert our Education Department where you'll be taken to our Training Lab.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled class are non-refundable. Failure to attend a class without prior notice (no-call/no-show) will also result in forfeiture of payment.
