Our Training Lab in our Ferndale Coffee Shop & Headquarters located at 927 Hilton Rd. is now open to the public for anyone and everyone to use. Access our equipment, coffee, milk and more and book a guided one-on-one session with our Education Managers.
This is a chance to sharpen your espresso preparation skills or get some reps on latte art! Are you training for a throw down or competition? Do you want the chance to use a Slayer espresso machine? Or do you just want some one-on-one time with our DOCR Education Department to hone in on your at-home brewing methods?

WHAT ARE GUIDED LAB HOURS?
Whether you’re brand new to coffee or already have barista experience, our guided one-on-one lab sessions are designed to meet you where you are and help you build confidence in both new and existing skills. If you’re looking for additional training in coffee theory, brewing methods, machinery, latte art, or beyond, we’ve got you covered.
During your session, you’ll work closely one-on-one with an Education Department Manager — either Emma or Tyler — who will tailor the experience to your goals. Together, you’ll identify areas of focus that may include espresso machine fundamentals, exploring new brewing methods, refining latte art technique, or developing your palate through guided tasting and processing identification.
These sessions are fully personalized, hands-on, and supportive. Our Education Managers are skilled and certified educators who will be present every step of the way, offering clear guidance, thoughtful feedback, and practical tools to help you grow as a barista-in-training or coffee professional.
You’ll have full access to our educational resources, equipment, coffee, and milk during your lab time. We encourage students to bring a notebook for note-taking, any reference materials they already use, and any brewing equipment or methods they’d like to explore more deeply.

WHERE DO I GO FOR MY LAB HOURS?
How exciting — you're on your way to accessing our Training Lab at DOCR!
When it's time for your Open Lab Hours, just head to our Ferndale Cafe & HQ at least 5 minutes before your scheduled session. Once you arrive, step right up to our cafe's bar and let one of our baristas know you're here for an Open Lab Session! They'll alert our Education Department where you'll be taken to our Training Lab.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled class are non-refundable. Failure to attend a class without prior notice (no-call/no-show) will also result in forfeiture of payment.
