Sweet and vibrant — red fruit punch, guava, and butterscotch in every cup.

From Don Concepción Villatoro Matías and his farm Los Dos Socios, this washed Bourbon and Caturra lot bursts with sweetness and fruit character. Expect juicy cherry, tropical guava, and a red fruit punch-like quality, finishing with a smooth sweetness reminiscent of butterscotch.

Los Dos Socios, named for the partnership between Concepción and his late father, has been carefully cultivated since 1990. Beneath shade trees like Gravilea and Chalum, Bourbon and Caturra thrive across small parcels, producing coffees that reflect both the land and the care of their producer.

ABOUT THE COFFEE

IN FOCUS: Guatemala Los Dos Socios

This lot is processed by washed method with a 36-hour fermentation and dried on concrete patios for 10–14 days. Over the years, Concepción expanded his farm by purchasing small parcels, planting them with Bourbon and Caturra varietals under protective shade. The resulting coffees are known for their sweetness, fruit clarity, and balance.

Beyond the cup, Concepción is recognized for his kindness and hospitality. An importer recalls visiting Los Dos Socios with a group of roasters:

“After we shared a meal with his family and learned more about his kids and grandkids, Concepción proudly led us up a jaggedly steep trail through shade trees and mature Bourbon. He insisted on carrying my backpack since I was moving a little slowly post meal. Forty-five minutes later, at 1750m, we reached a vantage point overlooking his farm, with sweeping mountains in the background. We fell in love with his farm after just falling in love with his family.”

Stories like these are common when speaking of Concepción — his generosity and genuine spirit shine through not only in the way he treats people, but also in the quality of his coffee. For us, Los Dos Socios represents the best of what specialty coffee can be: excellence in the cup and integrity throughout the supply chain.
