Vibrant, juicy, and fruit-forward—Hawaiian Punch, blood orange, and strawberry daiquiri in a balanced, clean cup.

From Álvaro Andrés Cardona Molina, part of the Young Producer Program with Unblended Coffee, this semi-washed experimental lot showcases both innovation and tradition. Andrés has worked with coffee since age 12 and now manages his uncle’s Villa Lucía farm, cultivating Colombia and Castillo varietals.

This lot is processed with his signature “Red Sunset” method, a submerged semi-washed fermentation using cherry juice from previous batches. The result is explosive fruit notes, exceptional vibrancy, and a clean, balanced cup with a long, sweet aftertaste.

ABOUT THE COFFEE

IN FOCUS: Colombia Andres Cardona

Andrés is part of a new generation of coffee producers in Colombia, dedicated to “Making Coffee Producing Young” in a country where many farms are aging and younger generations are pursuing other industries. Driven by curiosity and creativity, he experiments with innovative processing methods to enhance both quality and expression.

The Red Sunset process is a hybrid semi-washed approach involving extended fermentation in cherry inside sealed tanks, combined with coffee cherry juice from previous batches. This anaerobic-inspired method produces a homogeneous cup without overwhelming funk, allowing the natural fruit character to shine.

In the cup, expect Hawaiian Punch, sweet blood orange, and strawberry daiquiri, balanced by smooth sweetness and remarkable clarity. Juicy, vibrant, and meticulously clean, it’s an extraordinary expression of both the varietals and Andrés’ experimental approach.
