Kenya PB Kiamugumo | Washed

$24.95
Size: 12oz

Kiamugumo factory is situated in the community of Ngariama in the Nyangeni subregion of Kirinyaga County, on the slopes of Mount Kenya. In this area of Kenya, smallholders deliver coffee in cherry to washing stations. Typically the climate ranges from 12 to 25 degrees Celsius year round. After harvesting, producers bring the ripe cherries to the factory in horses or motorcycles. The cherries are washed and depulped with water from the Kii River. After washing, the coffee is dried on typical African raised beds, which allow good air circulation between the beans. Beans are dried to between 11 and 13% moisture, then brought to the Central Kenya Coffee Mill in Karatina Nyeri county for grading and sorting. Kiamugumo is run by a manager and provides resources to the contributing farmers, conducting operational activities and supporting in production processes and infrastructure, to achieve long term goals of furthering access to education with training seminars and of increasing general coffee production.

This coffee is incredibly dynamic, complex and super juicy. Look for loads of fruit in this coffee, with remarkable clarity and depth. We narrowed the tasting notes down on the bag to pomegranate, pineapple and black grape, but we could go on and on if we didn’t have to worry about space on the bag, lol. For one, we’re getting a really nice Caramel Apple type note in the finish, or perhaps a creme brûlée, some rhubarb florals but wrapped up in a very sweet package, that just make this coffee so lovely, vibrant and balanced for how intense the fruit flavors are. Enjoy!
