Ethiopia Dehab's Diamond | Natural

This coffee comes to us from producer Dehab Bitewlign. She and her husband own the farm, after she took over for his original partner in the business who passed away a number of years ago. Since taking over his shares, and partnering with her husband to operate the farm, she began learning everything she could about coffee production and all things coffee, attending exhibitions, expos and coffee expos like SCA in the US, and seeking to acquire as much info to implement improvements on their farm for the best product, operation, and investment in their farmers. It wasn’t until 2015 that she began exporting to Germany, and then later to the US.

This coffee is a Bourbon varietal, and as mentioned, natural process, from the Kaffa Forest in Ethiopia. This is a different region of course than our Yirgacheffe, Banko Gotiti, as well as varietal and heavily contrasted in processing method. The resulting cup is a medley of fruits of all kinds, predominantly berries like blackberry, raspberry, maybe even some strawberry, with a syrupy body that’s silky but not heavy, and all wrapped up in some lovely hibiscus and chamomile florals. Its a total berry bomb that is often the characteristic “ah ha” moment for a lot of coffee drinkers, where the notes just jump out so literally that it becomes so clear that coffee is a fruit.
