Ethiopia Biru Bekele | Natural MWP Decaf
This natural process, Ethiopian heirloom varietal coffee comes to us from the Biru Bekele Washing Station in the Sidama region of Ethiopia. The founder of the washing station, and its namesake, Biru Bekele, is a renowned producer in the region, and is behind a number of well known coffee projects in Ethiopia. He and his washing station are visionaries in coffee processing, and help to further ensure the exceptionalism of the coffees of this region.
After this coffee was harvested and processed, it was decaffeinated using the Mountain Water Process. This is a very natural means of decaffeination, however, we've found it can sometimes risk muting the coffee a bit due to the high input of water in the process. This coffee is a beautiful exception to that worry. It’s an incredibly dynamic coffee, very sweet and juicy as you might expect from a natural Ethiopia. Look for notes of blueberries and raspberries, and sweet but rich chocolate cake. A very pleasant cup that’s as perfectly balanced as it is sweet and vibrant.
