IN FOCUS: Peru Germán Carranza | Anaerobic Washed

Germán Carranza Barboza is a coffee producer from Gracias a Dios in Peru’s Amazonas region. At the time of this release, our listing introduced him as a 28-year-old husband and father of two. His farm, El Bebedero, sits at approximately 1,600–1,700 meters above sea level and takes its name from the natural springs that supply his farm and animals.

This distinct lot combined Bourbon, Villasarchi, Marsellesa, H1, and Castillo varieties. After depulping, the coffee spent time in a low-oxygen tank before a final washing and drying on raised beds.

Compared with our standard Washed offering from Germán, this release was juicier and much more effervescent. Sparkling strawberry lemonade, ripe red grapefruit, and white grape illustrated the balance of a clean anaerobic coffee: the clarity of washed processing with the vibrancy fermentation can magnify.
